— In-game tip

Puppet Show is a single battle where your total control time—the time you utilize to position your units—is limited. Elapsed time is subtracted from the total after each turn. A total time of 12.0 seconds is allotted for both Hunting Zones 1 and 2. The battle completes if time expires during your turn or if only 0.1 seconds remain at the start. It appears the minimum time for any move is just below 0.3 seconds.

The enemies that appear in a Puppet Show stage consist of Casting Puppets and one other type: sword-wielder, spear-wielder, or archer. Each Hunting Zone has one of the types. New enemies, possibly the Puppet King, will spawn each turn until time has expired. It is not yet clear whether a certain amount of time needs to expire before the Puppet King has a chance of appearing.

Papa Puppet always drops two species-type items and one rare ore/particle. The regular Puppet enemies will only drop race specific items of a high or low tier. It is possible for a single enemy to drop two items upon defeat, presumably both a low and high tier. In Zone 3, it is possible for some enemies to drop up to three items.

Defensively, all puppets have higher Magic Defense than Defense. Weapon puppets take about 35% damage from Magic, compared to enemies with equal Defense and Magic Defense. Staff puppets take about 28% as much damage from Magic as Physical, and Papa Puppet takes about 43% as much from Magic it does from Physical.

Hunting Zones[]

Each hunting zone contains puppets of different weapon types. All hunting zones contain Casting Puppets.

Drop rates with two values means that there are two separate items can be dropped by the enemy.

Choosing the Zone Based on the Item(s) You Need
If you only care about one of the low-tier items, you get slightly better return on stamina in Puppet Show Zone 1. If you care about both item tiers equally, use Zone 2. If you only care about the high-tier items, use Zone 3. See this post for exhaustive details.
