Haggo the Conjurer

Beastfolk bartender at an establishment frequented only by nobility.

Abandoned by his parents at a very young age, Haggo had been taken in by the tavern owner, which set his life on a new and very much unexpected trajectory.

The tavern offered an unusual type of entertainment for its discerning and easily bored customers of high birth. Magic tricks performed by the most esteemed magicians.

Haggo watched them closely and learned their trade, purely out of the desire to repay the tavern owner for taking care of him. It did not take long before he was a performer in his own right.

He soon noticed that his sleight of hand could be turned to profit another way, by pickpocketing the customers. Yet the refined clientele rubbed off on him, awakening a sense of morality, and he gave up on stealing from good, innocent people. Owing to the excellent company, little by little, he matured into a man of culture and sophistication.

But then peaceful times came to an end.

Political unrest escalated to outright fighting between the nobility when the emperor passed away. So fierce was the competition for power and influence that the once-proud aristocrats sought to remove their rivals by hook or by crook, even resorting to assassination.

One day, the tavern was completely destroyed in an explosion. Yet some claim that it was not real, but a daring trick. After all, it was the tavern’s old customers, presumed dead during the most dangerous period that seized the power in the end.
